Thought for the day: You can't win 'em all.
Balance, have I said this before? Balance is key to life. Moderation, consistency, variety, these are building blocks to happiness. Now, I say this and it sounds a little humanistic maybe. First, you have to claim Jesus Christ as Lord of your life or you can never have balance. Life will be all one-sided. What we think of as "good" things may happen, but in the end...what? Death and eternal seperation and punishment.
Some folks think that believing on Jesus binds a person, makes all these rules and names all these things a person can't do. Everything is negative. But in reality believing on Jesus frees a person, because without him all a person can do is wrong, no matter how much right a person tries to do.
God the Father sent Jesus to die for all makind. He did it becuase He loves mankind. God gave up this ultimate sacrifice, the greatest thing He could ever give. When people don't appreciate and accept God's gift God says they are not worthy to enter heaven. That's the long and short of it. God gave all. We don't think anything of His gift. Therefore, we can't be with God.
Murderer, on death row, going to die tomorrow, believes on Jesus Christ. This man may not do one good thing to anyone before his death, not one kind act or giving to charity or helping the orphans at Christmas time and yet God sees him as righteous even if he never did a good thing for any one person all his life. He dies and goes to heaven.
Businessman, good family man, takes care of his wife and kids, goes to church, gives to the orphans, lets his neighbor borrow his lawnmower, teaches at an after-school program for underpriviledged youth. Never believes on Jesus Christ and dies. He goes to hell.
Why? The businessman did alot more "good" with his life. The most important thing is not what you do with your life. God expects you to accept His gift because He gave the most precious thing He had.
Ghandi isn't in heaven. It's not that he didn't do "great" things with his life. He liberated a nation and freed his people from oppression by non-violent means.
But he never did what was most important, believing on Jesus.
Balance, consistency, think about it.
