Been out of cyberspace for a while. My mom had her 70th birthday party this last weekend. It was great to see my family. I'm glad all my brothers and sisters were able to come down to Florida.
In case you didn't know, my wife and I are expecting a baby boy in Feb. We are very excited.
I read a description of Robert Jordan's funeral and of his last hours online last week. It made me sadder than I thought I would be. I feel especially bad for Harriet, his wife. But I also feel bad that such an imagination, such an incredible creator and story teller has gone out of the world. I could never write like him, the scope and the detail of his work is overwhelming at times. I will miss him though. Even though we never met. Even though I'm pretty sure we never would have if he had lived. He had such gifts.
People continue to ask me about my book.
"How is it going?" they say. It's not. I get up at 9:30 and get home at 6:00. When I do get home I am (a) exhausted or (b) keeping up the yard and house. ( I have duties.) So no I have not been writing. I got the shimmer of an idea the other day and I wrote it down "A boy loses his parents."
That's it. But see, now I've got a problem to write around. I may begin writing in 1st person for a bit and see how that sounds. Just to shake things up a bit.
There was an awesome post of opening lines on the Absolute Write forums but I can't seem to find it. http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=39&order=desc
Things are good. I'm just tired.

Congratulations!!!! How exciting to soon have an addition to your family.
Did Jordan ever finish his series?
I feel (with the death of James Rigney) that I've lost a very dear freind who I haven't seen in years. Is that weird. Never met the guy, but you read his books, his blogs, his interviews...I dunno'...sad.
Ricker, the last book was 50%? complete...but his wife was his editor and they know what he wanted to happen, so it should be completed...there is no time-line though.
heh heh. Thanks for that. Have I mentioned that I wish you were coming to Christmas? Yes? I have? Oh. Okay.
